My husband and I will be married 5 years in November. When we got married it was at the justice of the peace with no family or friends attending. I would like to do something for our 5th anniversary to include family and a few friends. Thought about vow renewal but decided against that. Thinking of anniversary party and inviting everyone. Question is since it has been 5 years how large or small should this party be. I would like to have like a small scale reception with flowers and decorations. Any other suggestions on how this day can be celebrated?

The two of you should just take a trip together. Honestly, I wouldn’t want to spend my anniversary with friends/family it is more romantic to just be the two of you.

“The Wedding Reception We Never Had” theme could get everyone really motivated to celebrate with you. Chances are your friends and family would love the opportunity to commemorate that special day. Make it a traditional reception with cake, food, decorations and whatnot. Include a slide show or photo album of your past five years together. Have a friend make a music list on an iPod and play it during the party. And, as any good host, serve plenty of booze :-) . Depending on how festive you want to get there’s always an opportunity for a costume theme (wild west? vegas? beach theme with tropical drinks to boot?). I’m excited for you!

Don’t spend money on a “party”. Take a nice trip together just the two of you. That’s just what I would do. But we had a pretty big wedding to begin with. We’re going to Costa Rica for our 5th Anniversary and Greece for our 10th…we started saving up as soon as the wedding was over! Something fun to look forward to!

Divorce papers are always a great gift………seriously maybe have a small party before your way out of town enjoy a week together

Why don’t you and husband go on an anniversary cruise. Cruise lines are very accommodating toward anniversaries. The ship’s captain can help you renew your vows. It would be nice for you to take in some beaches in the Carribean, relax. Food, entertainment, coffee and tea are free on cruise ships. You pay for liquor, beer & shore excursions. If you drink sodas, you can buy a drink card for about $5.00 per day.

You must get a photobooth at your wedding anniversary party. I went to a wedding last week and it was such a hit. Everybody loved it and you can capture all the moments that a photographer wont.

Your 5th wedding anniversary is traditionally celebrated with wood, so you could have a woodland theme party or better still have a great big picnic in the countryside.

Your party should be as big or small as you want it.
